You are cordially invited to this year’s Manchester Wesley Research Centre lecture. The third annual MWRC lecture will be given by Dr Kenneth Newport, Assistant Vice-Chancellor and Professor in Christian Thought at Liverpool Hope University. Reflecting the tercentenary of Charles Wesley’s birth, Professor Newport’s lecture is entitled: ‘Recovering Charles Wesley’s Voice: Achievements, Opportunities and Obstacles’. A priest in the Church of England, Dr Newport has published widely in a number of areas, and has a particular interest in earlyMethodism (especially the life, literature, theology and legacy of Charles Wesley) and in millennialism. He is currently editing the works of Charles Wesley and has recently published ‘The Sermons of Charles Wesley: A Critical edition with an Introduction and Notes’.
The lecture will take place at the J. B. Maclagan Chapel on the campus of Nazarene Theological College at 7:30 pm on Monday April 16th, 2007. The College’s address is: Dene Road, Didsbury, Manchester M20 2GU
